I'm not sure what to think of these enterprising monks. They seem to be using the money to do good for others, and they still keep to their half-of-every day prayer life. Throughout history, the brothers and nuns in seminaries and convents have had to use their skills to support themselves.
I am just realizing the connection between science and religion. I have learned a lot from reading Leo Kim's "Healing the Rift", and hope to continue learning more. Leo Kim draws upon his own personal experiences, publications, and research as well as citing numerous Nobel Laureates. I am amazed by his experience and insight.
We are taught that wealth should be shared and it looks like the monks are doing just that. They don't seem to be using their wealth to aquire worldly possessions but rather to help others. So I'd say they are doing God's work.

This is a very good monastery and the monks are living by the work of their hands - they are an exceellent community. I have a dear friend there.
I think it's a beautiful witness to what a legitimate free market system should look like.

those trappists are the best.
