Melissa Hackney passed away last night.
Kimberly's blog reported that she had beaten cancer, but the drubbing her lungs took was too much to recuperate from. This is so heartbreaking. I really thought she was going to make it.
"Go forth, Christian soul, from this world
in the name of God the almighty Father,
who created you,
in the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God,
who suffered for you,
in the name of the Holy Spirit,
who was poured out upon you.
Go forth, faithful Christian!
May you live in peace this day,
may your home be with God in Zion,
with Mary, the virgin Mother of God,
with Joseph, and all the angels and saints. . . .
May you return to [your Creator]
who formed you from the dust of the earth.
May holy Mary, the angels, and all the saints
come to meet you as you go forth from this life. . . .
May you see your Redeemer face to face.”

Oh, Tom. I'm so sorry.
I am so sorry to hear of her passing. I didn't know her but ever since I found your blog I've been thinking and praying for her. This is heart breaking... I too thought she was going to make it. My prayers are with her family and friends.
Tom
How wonderful of you to post this for Melissa. You are such a wonderful friend and prayer warrior. Melissa will be greatly missed by many, but we are rejoicing for her life and for the One who gave her life. Blessed be God forever!
Kimberly
Katie-
Thank you for your kind words.
Jessica-
You and I were on the same boat when it came to expecting the best for Melissa. Still I look at her picture and I feel she should still be alive. May she know a deeper and more beautiful reality than what she could have ever experienced here on earth.
Kimberly-
If it hadn't been for you, I and a great deal of people would have never heard of Melissa. I thank you for bringing this beautiful person, still somewhat a stranger, into my life. God bless you for caring.
Tom,
Your words to Jessica brought me to tears. So filled with hope and peace. You are really an amazing person and I'm blessed to "know" you at all.
I'm sorry she had to leave this earth, but trust in that same perfection and beauty that waits for all of us in the next chapter of life.
I am so sorry to hear of Melissa's passing; my prayers and condolances to her family and loved ones.
Melissa and her family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
