My Dad left the Church because of him. He was an avid reader of his books, and Dad started to agree with him that the Church wasn't moving fast enough, that the priesthood as it "was/is and ever shall be" was outmoded and needed modernising..... keep reading Kung and you come to the conclusion that you don't need the Church.
Reach that decision and you come to the conclusion that you don't need Christ.
Yup, Kung is what you said he is, and has left me with an uphill struggle with my Dad.
It's clergy like Kung who keep the Catholic Church divided, or at the very least fan the flames of defiance and schism, so that camps begin to form and start going their own way. This man is a disgrace.
Dads can be stubborn, my dear friend. Mine is no exception:0) I shall keep him in my prayers.
When I returned to the Church 7 years ago I went to my local public library to look for some books to guide me on my journey. I read Kung, among others, and it's only by the grace of God that I was directed to read Corrie ten Boom and Catherine Marshall, both protestants. I give these two women credit for leading me to Catholicism. Life is odd, isn't it.
Oh my - Like Father Erik I was afraid a good slap upside the head was heading your way. Then I saw the "jerk" and got my first LOL moment today (and it's 4:28pm)
Not a chance:0) I've been on to this guy for years now.
Angela-
When the Protestants are doing more to keep you Catholic than is a Catholic source, you gotta wonder about that Catholic source, don't you think? Good news is that you're here!
Auntie A-
Again, I've been on to this guy for as long as I can remember, so there's no way I could follow him. That DOESN'T mean that I wouldn't benefit from a slap upside the head:0)
I DO NOT follow Kung in any way. Hence the "jerk" caption beneath his pic. Perhaps I should enlarge it.
Terry, you do bring up a good point. Why hasn't this guy been thrown out? On Wikipedia there is a quote from him in which he calls himself "a priest in good standing." Go figure.

Spooky avatar:0) Looks like the expression I've had on my face for a couple of weeks (all the scandals are driving me nuts!)

I kind of chuckled when I saw the picture with "jerk" written under it. But, then I read it and I agree. Jerk!

Had me going there for a momment. I thought, Oh no, Tom has gone over to the dark side. You are too subtle for the likes of me, but right nonetheless.

I must admit, I don't know who he is, so now I need to do some reading to bring myself up to speed:-)
Oh Tracy, he's just simply not worth your time. I would, however, click on "jerk" and start with that first impression.
Kung is responsible for a lot of errors-including some that I followed for a long time Use caution!
I knew better Tom - I wonder why he wasn't excommunicated or something.
Did you notice Cathy's avatar? She is so scary Tom!
