What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life

One of the best jazz arrangements of this song ever. Don't ask me why, but it reminds me of a drive on a warm summer night through New England.

Tracey, Maria-

Ditto!

Terry-

I love this song as well. Legrand is responsible for a number of songs that rank as classics.

Terry-I came back for the same reason. Among the more notables are-- "Pieces of Dreams," "Brian's Song," "What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life," "I Will Wait for You," "Watch What Happens" (both from "Umbrellas") and from the movie "The Young Girls of Rochefort," the well-remembered "You Must Believe in Spring." One of Legrand's most recent hit songs is the melodic "How Do You Keep the Music Playing," from "Best Friends."

He often collaborated with lyricists Alan and Marilyn Bergaman...

I've been aware of this (Sinatra) song since I was kid...it always sounded so grownup. It's amazing how much more substantial it is now that I've been married for 22 years and have grandchildren.

I tend to conflate it with September Song.
