While I am not politically affiliated with any of the major parties, I did have some hope with MCcain. With his acceptance of the endorsement of the fundamentalist bigot John Hagee, he loses my support. John Hagee is as anti-Catholic and fundamentalist as they come, and he adheres to and preaches a type of still-born Christianity that is as anachronistic as it is pernicious to Catholic and non-Catholic alike.
By the way, I did not know that these dogmatic, brimstone and fire fundamentalists still spoke with that self-stigmatizing southern accent.
Oh, darn!! I'm so glad you pointed this out, I haven't been watching much of anything in the news (too depressing) but.. up until now, I was leaning towards McCain.. there is simply no way I can do this now. Thanks for posting this Tom.. this is big news for me!!
I like your term still-born Christian which is very apt in many instances. We have seen too much of them in the last eight years and at this point, no matter who wins, they will be back in the backgound where they belong. And that is in spite of the endorsement which I believe is just an attempt to steal some lost power back. Vote your conscience, and don't worry about him.
I agree with you when you say that we have to vote our conscience. And you are once again correct in assessing McCain's acceptance of this endorsement as political strategizing. Nonetheless, I think it will definitely cost him some votes.
McCain finally spoke out against Hagee! From Spirit Daily, here are his comments to the AP. "We've had a dignified campaign, and I repudiate any comments that are made, including Pastor Hagee's, if they are anti-Catholic or offensive to Catholics”.
"McCain also brought up the fact that he sent his children to Catholic schools as proof of his acceptance of Catholics. "I sent two of my children to Catholic school. I categorically reject and repudiate any statement that was made that was anti-Catholic, both in intent and nature. I categorically reject it, and I repudiate it," McCain said."
I do hope he is sincere, it took a lot of time to finally come around.! McCain is our only hope against the pro-abort Democrats,IMHO, and I can't vote for them.

He "repudiated" the comments, but he still accepted the endorsement. That speaks volumes.
