Mixed Signals??

So the big news circulating in some Catholic and non-Catholic media outlets is that Pope Benedict has approved the use of condoms in certain circumstances. Asked if the Church has had a shift in principles, Pope Benedict answered:

"She of course does not regard it as a real or moral solution, but, in this or that case, there can be nonetheless, in the intention of reducing the risk of infection, a first step in a movement toward a different way, a more human way, of living sexuality." Read full article here.

I find this story, which, again, is spreading through the internet like wildfire, somewhat unreliable. But if true, I can see former critics singing his praises and current supporters feeling somewhere in between confused and outraged.

CNS provides a piece that seems to clarify Pope Benedict's stance on the use of condoms. Read here.

I plan to read the book. I've read all of Seewald's interviews with the Holy Father-well, worth a read. However, I'm hearing their may be issues with the translation into English of this particular passage and that concerns me.

I agree with you, Cathy. I'm going to wait for the book as well.

Did anyone listen to this rather strong Open Message to Pope Benedict? It says that the Vatican was supposed to have released the 3rd Secret of Fatima 50 years ago and other documents?
